There may be certain functionality that was available with the original driver that is no longer available with this one. I have not tested any color printeing nor any other settings. PLEASE NOTE: When I found this work around, I simply needed to print black and white. You can either try printing a document or if you have not closed the dialog, you can click on the General tab and click the Print Test Page button, the printer should start to print your document and you should be amazed that you added your HP Photosmart 7660 printer so easily.
Be sure you have a check next to this port and then click, Apply. You will see that LPT1 is checked, you will need to scroll to the bottom and select the port named 'USB001 - Virtual printer port for.'. While on this dialog, click the Ports tab. (example HP Photosmart 7510 series Class Driver Properties, if you left the name the default name). Step 10: Now you should be looking at the settings for your printer, the dialog title will be "The Name You Typed" Settings. Step 9: Now that we have the printer added, we need to change the port to tell Windows the printer is connected with the USB cable.
